How can you tell if your Coach purse is real? Well, according to several Coach employees I spoke with, there is no way to definitively spot a fake Coach. But surely there are ways to differentiate a fake Coach bag from an authentic one. Could it be that we Coach devotees are merely paying for the name? I'm sure you've read many articles on how to spot a fake Coach purse, but hear me out...
Anyone who's owned a Coach handbag before knows about Coach's craftsmanship guarantee seal sewn on to every one of their purses big enough to fit it. On that seal are numbers which make up the bag's serial number. The numbers before the dash consist of the date the bag was made, the second set of numbers that appear after the dash is the bag's style number. Since not all Coach bags are made the same day, the first set of numbers can vary by bag. However, the style number which appears after the dash remains the same within the same style. That said, the most accurate way of telling whether your Coach bag is fake or not is to compare the style number on your bag with an authentic Coach bag of the same style straight from your local Coach store or an authorized dealer.
Though there may not be set guidelines on spotting a fake Coach from a real one, that doesn't mean that fake Coach bags are made with the same quality material and craftsmanship as its authentic counterpart. If you inspect an authentic Coach bag closely you'll see the attention to detail that goes into it, like the stitching, the alignment of the "C", down to the color of the thread used. I've included some up close pictures that highlight these little details that truly set an authentic Coach bag apart from a replica Coach purse mass produced to look like the real deal yet bears no resemblance to its high quality and standards.
Don't pay premium for an inferior version of the bag you truly want. If you want to own an authentic Coach purse, Coach wallet, Coach shoes, or any of the many Coach accessories available, and you don't want to pay retail (who wants to pay retail anyway right?!)... Check out a Coach Outlet Store, if there's not one near you, go to the online version www.coachfactory.com. The online version is on an invite basis, but both the local and online Coach Outlet do offer authentic Coach accessories at prices well below retail.
